An album containing traditional Kapampangan hymns to the Virgen was launched today, September 7, on the Visperas 66th Anniversary of the Canonical Coronation of the Virgen de los Remedios. The Cruzada de Penitencia y Caridad aims to promote devotion to the Virgen de los Remedios through sacred music.
The album includes familiar hymns such as Sulu na ka ning Meto Lelangan, a hymn from Sitio Dalan Betis in Sta. Rita and Msgr. Gregio Canlas’ Sto. Cristo del Perdon and Indu ning Capaldanan. It also features the well-known Himno Oficial of the Virgen de los Remedios.
The album’s production began earlier this year and was funded by the Permanent Committee of the Cruzada de Penitencia y Caridad, which was led by Rev. Fr. Jesus G. Manabat Jr. Father Jess emphasized the importance of passing on these “treasures of faith” to the next generation, particularly through digital media. “It is our responsibility to pass on this means of devotion to the young so that the devotion can continue,” he said.
The songs were performed by Santa Rita’s May Gosioco and Sta. Ana’s Lianne Calma, Arayat’s Charles Dela Cruz, and Angeles City’s Jeffrey Buan. Joseph Erwin Limpin arranged the pieces while Alvaro Jimenez, Nigel Ian Laxamana and William Hernandez doing the instrumentals.
The album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Instagram/Facebook, TikTok/Resso/Luna, YouTube Music, Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, iHeartRadio, ClaroMusica, Saavn, Boomplay, Anghami, KKBox, NetEase, Tencent, Qobuz, Joox and MediaNet. Physical copies will be available soon.
