The official Kapampangan translation of the mission song for the 500th year of Christianity in the Philippines was launched today, March 16.
Entitled “Tángû Kami”, the song was a collaboration project between the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary and the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission of Pampanga, the Archdiocesan Commission on Social Communication, with the help of the Office of the Archbishop.
In a message, the Most Rev. Florentino Lavarias D.D., Archbishop of San Fernando said: “The 500th Year Celebration of the Christian Faith in our country has been inspiring the Filipino faithful to be grateful to God for the gift of faith. And this spirit of gratitude moves us to be generous to share whatever we can do to make the said celebration more meaningful and to enliven our commitment to continue giving witness to our Christian faith.”
He added:
I thank our seminarians at MGCS, especially Sem. Gian Sagum and Mr. Erwin Limpin, for their contribution to our national celebration of the Christian Faith through their song “Tangu Kami.” This song is the official Kapampangan translation of “We Give our Yes,” written by Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo. It is my hope and prayer that the said song will help the Kapampangan faithful strengthen their willingness to live their YES to Christ and His mission to the fullest.
