As the Catholic Church celebrates the year of St. Joseph, the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission of Pampanga has produced a song for the Foster-Father of the Redeemer.
The three minute song, entitled “Himno Kang San Jose” was derived from a Spanish hymn Himno a San José”, and translated into Kapampangan by Msgr. Ricardo Serrano, SLD, the director of the commission.
“During this year of Saint Joseph, we aim to promote devotion to the Foster-Father of Redeemer through various devotional materials and hymns. We hope that this little offering lead the Kapampangan faithful to know and love more San José,” the commission said.
The song was performed by Laudate Sanctam Annam, a choir group from the Sta. Ana Parish in Sta. Ana, Pampanga.
Aside from the song, the commission has also produced a devotional booklet “Umé kayu kang SAN JOSÉ: Ding Debosyon at Panalangin at ding Misa king Ibpang-Talaingat ning Guinu,” for the Year of St. Joseph.
Pope Francis proclaimed this year as the Year of St. Joseph (December 8 2020 to December 8 2021), in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St. Joseph as Patron Saint of the Universal Church.
