The launching of this year’s Alay Kapwa Archdiocesan Lenten Action Program will be on 17 February 2021, Ash Wednesday. A Eucharistic Celebration will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral at 9:00 AM, with Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias, D.D. presiding.
To raise funds for the Alay Kapwa Program, Alay Kapwa envelopes will be distributed in parishes and schools in our Archdiocese; Alay Kapwa cans/coin banks will be distributed among participating families, business establishments, schools, government institutions, non-government organizations and some parishes too. Lastly, the Alay Kapwa Sunday Second Collection held annually during Palm Sunday will be observed in all parishes on 28 March 2021.
All funds are to be remitted to the Finance Department at the Arzobispado de San Fernando, Pampanga not later than 26 April 2021. The funds raised will be utilized for the following:
Programs:
- 400 Scholarship grants and educational privileges in college and vocational technical courses for poor students for SY 2021-2022;
- Health and medical assistance that gives access to quality health care services through referrals to our doctor-clinic and hospital partners, medical and dental missions in far communities, online consultations to our volunteer doctors;
- Partnership projects with KDF through Operations Smile (free surgery for harelip and cleft palate patients), Cataract Missions (free surgery for pterygium and cataract patients) and Walk-free Pampanga (for mobility aides like prosthesis, crutches and wheelchairs); ABC Global for Health assisting in the Prison Apostolate, regular medical consultation to 5 Integrated Community Organizing Communities in the coastal and urban poor, and;
- Emergency relief assistance to disaster prone parish communities.
Evangelization Campaign activities:
- An evangelization-education campaign about the Alay Kapwa Program of the Catholic Church in general, and in the Archdiocese in particular; the programs and services supported by the Alay Kapwa campaign and its accomplishments for the past year that will be published in the Ing Mayap A Balita for the next two (2) months beginning on the March issue.
Let us all wholeheartedly support the Alay Kapwa Program as a manifestation of our love for the poor.
