Brief history of the Lords Annunciation Parish
Barangay San Vicente, San Miguel, Sebitanan and Divisoria of Mexico, Pampanga, were formerly under
the Divisoria of Mexico, Pampanga, were formerly under the parish of Sta. Monica, located at the town proper of
Mexico, Rev. Msgr. Antonio Bustos, then the parish priest of Sta. Monica, Mexico, Pampanga, in coordination with
the local officials and pastoral councils of the 4 barangays above, initiated the move of the people and proximity of the
areas to the main parish.
Thus in 1995, the commission on the Establishment of New Parishes in the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga,
headed by Rev. Msgr. Pax Lansang, conducted different interviews, surveys and series of consultations
to facilitate the making of the new parish in the said areas. The commission , after consolidating all the efforts made,
recommended to the good office of the most Rev. Paciano B. Aniceto D.D. the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Fernando,
Pampanga, the creation and erection of the new parish.
on July 13, 1996, the Archbishop ushered in a new parish under the name: THE LORDS ANNUNCIATION PARISH.
The seat of the parish is in barangay San Vicento , Mexico, Pampanga. The first parish priest Rev. Fr. Lyndon B. Valenton.
During that time, the main church of the new parish was in the heart of the brangay San Vicente. It was relatively a
small edifice to fit in many of the believers in the new parish, After a year, with the help of the late Apung Pining Pinpin,
the new parish purchased a two hectare lot also in San vicente, Mexico, where the new build of the parish church will rise.
It was in 1998 that the construction of the new church began. It was really a big effort put together by the Parish Pastoral Council, Barangay Pastoral Councils
of San Vicente, San Miguel, Divisoria and Sebitanan, Local Officials and non goverment organizations to build the new edifice of the Church. The untiring dedication and efforts of Fr. Lyndon motivated and sustained his parishioners to finish the work they have started. Thus ,in April 1999, the new church building was finished.
In November 2001, a new parish priest was assigned in the Lords’s Annunciation Parish. He is a very simple aned kind priest by the name of Rev. Fr. Joseph
G. Hernandez. With his pastoral zeal, he has made the Lord’s Annunciation Parish well known all over the archdiocese. With the artistic touch of Fr. joseph, the beautiful surroundings of the parish church attracted many faithful to visit and atted the liturgical celebrations. Weddings and baptisms loomed large under his pastoral care and his magnetic charisma.
In October 2007, rev.Fr. ely G. Dizon, Jr. was assigned as the new parish priest, After two months, the Archdiocesean Presbyteral Council and the Commission on the Estblishment of new Parishes re-established the composition of the Lord’s Annunciation Parish. Thus, in January 2008, Barangays Sabanilla and Masamat of Mexico, Pampanga, together with the Lakeshore Subdivision were included in the Lord’s Annunciation Parish. This was made possible with kind efforts of Rev. Fr. Larry Sarmiento, the present parish priest of Sta. Monica Parish Mexico, Pampanga.
