What is a Synod and a Synodal Approach?
A brief explanation of what a Synod and a Synodal Approach is.
Sulung!
We are moving forward. The Synod on Synodality underscores the importance of listening, conversion, and communion within the Church, especially amidst challenges and questions. It highlights the need to prioritize the voices of the marginalized, including victims of abuse, indigenous peoples, and those affected by racism. The Church is called to listen to the laity, families, ordained ministers, and consecrated life.
Looking ahead to the second session in 2024, the Holy Father Pope Francis stresses the importance of continued participation and engagement in the synodal process, grounded in the principles of communion and mission. It calls for concrete actions to address challenges and invites trust in Mary, Mother of the Church, and in Jesus Christ as the source of hope.
Sulung. We are moving forward towards a synodal Church.
It is important that while we organize our listening sessions, we should understand the contexts of a Synod and Synodality. See some of the documents written by our Archdiocesan Synod Team.
